Please note: Thermo, Ambassador, and Aurora are all made to the same measurements. Thermo is double-layered, with soft-shell on the outside and thick wool on the inside. The other models are made of a single layer of wool fabric. Thermo is therefore thicker than the other models, and it is possible that your dog may need one size larger than usual.
XS Terrier fits dogs such as Jack Russels.
S suits shelties and dogs of similar size.
M is appropriate for whippets.
M/L fits pointers, tollers, small setters, and border collies.
L is appropriate for larger border collies, and setters.
XL is suitable for dalmatians, German shepherds, and giant schnauzers.
XXL is for dogs such as Great Danes.
The thermo-shell layer is elastic and provides good mobility.
Review from Inger Handegård (03/05/2016):
“I have now tested two Canelana Thermo wool coats with thermo-shell outer fabric, in both cold weather and cold/wet weather, on a down-shed dog and an old dog with back problems. The coat functions EXCELLENTLY. Keeps the dogs warm, they dry even if they are wet when the coat is put on, and the coats fit my dogs perfectly. The only thing I miss are washing instructions? And tips for getting rid of stray dog hairs when they are used on a shedding dog 😉 The coats are highly recommended!”
Washing instructions: Wool program, with wool fabric softener.
Tips for removing stray dog hairs: Rubber glove, crumpled up tape, vacuum cleaner, or lint roller (either way, hairs stick less to wool (which is non-static) than to synthetic fibers).
THIS IS HOW CANELANA COATS SHOULD FIT (THERMO, AMBASSADOR, AND AURORA)
The coats can be tightened by the tail so that they wrap down and around the thighs. The following images show a dog wearing the right coat length, with the end tightened a little, and then tightened more.
